Lanzarote Activities With Kids: Ages and Rules
Travelling to Lanzarote with children is perfectly doable, but each activity has its own rules. I’m laying them out one by one so nothing surprises you on the day.
Book the buggy tour →Book the jet ski →Book the catamaran →
Buggy
- 2-seat buggy: the passenger must be at least 1.35 m tall.
- 4 or 6-seat buggy: the back seats are open from age 2, with child seats provided.
- Driver: licence held for at least 2 years, so it has to be an adult.
- Worth knowing: roughly 60 to 70% is dirt tracks, so expect dust and bumps. A 2-hour ride is usually the right format with kids.
Jet ski
- Driver: minimum age 16, with parental consent for minors.
- Passenger: children must be over 8 and able to hold on properly.
- ID is required.
Catamaran
- Children aged 0 to 1: free.
- Children’s life jackets provided.
- Calm mood: swimming, snorkelling, paddleboards and kayaks.
- Worth knowing: no boarding ramp, you need to step on and off the boat.
My honest advice
With young children, the catamaran is the simplest: gentle pace, suitable equipment, everything included. For a family with kids aged 2 and up who like adventure, a 4 or 6-seat buggy works well. The jet ski is more for teens and adults, given the minimum age.
