Buggy Tours in Lanzarote (Small Groups): 2-Hour & 3-Hour Trips

My aim is to be 100% transparent with you: not to push an activity on you at any cost, but to make sure you have a great time and don’t come away disappointed. It takes two minutes to read and saves you any nasty surprises. Here’s everything you need to know before you book:

• 🐢 It’s a relaxed ride, not a rally: The pace is deliberately easy-going: the idea isn’t to chase speed but to enjoy the scenery. It’s suitable for everyone (families, young children, older people), and we keep it gentle out of respect for local residents, for safety and for the protected natural parks.
• ⏱️ An approximate duration, not a stopwatch: Trips last around 2 or 3 hours, depending on the option you choose. Depending on the group’s pace, traffic or conditions on the day, this can vary by 10 to 15 minutes, which is perfectly normal. The route itself always stays the same: what matters is the experience, not the clock!
• ⛽ A stop at the petrol station? That’s all part of the plan! On some trips the convoy stops so a few of the buggies can fill up: it’s not an oversight, it’s just how things work, and the route stays exactly the same.
• 🗣️ It’s not a guided tour (and this is Spain!): The guide’s job is to lead the way and keep everyone safe, not to stop and give commentary, and the operator can’t guarantee a guide who speaks your language on every trip. As with any activity run by local staff, how engaged the guide is can vary from one to the next: the vast majority do the job with a smile, but you might catch one on an off day.
• 🌋 We don’t go to Timanfaya: Contrary to a common misconception, no motor vehicles are allowed into Timanfaya National Park. Our route focuses on the volcanoes and landscapes in the north of the island (Costa Teguise, the Famara cliffs, Haría), which are every bit as spectacular.
• 🚧 A route that has changed, and keeps adapting: Following new restrictions imposed by the Cabildo, some sections used in the past are no longer accessible, so the route isn’t quite the same as it was a few years ago. The guides do their best to give you a great ride (roughly 60 to 70% dirt tracks, trails and paths), but they also have to work around these new constraints, sometimes at the last minute.
• 👥 Peak season: In high season the island runs at full capacity, so naturally it’s busier and things can feel a bit like a production line at the start. That said, my partner keeps things intimate, with 5 buggies max. per guide, whereas other operators often take 10 to 15 vehicles per group.
• 🇪🇸 A no-frills welcome: Most travellers mention how friendly and good-humoured our local partners are. Spaniards tend to be direct and spontaneous: that’s all part of the charm of travelling! When it’s busy, the teams keep things brief and the tone can come across as a bit blunt, so don’t take it personally. That said, if the welcome really fell short on a given day, let me know: it helps me pass the feedback on.
• 🚌 The shuttle service: Available as an option if you don’t have a car. You’ll be given an approximate pick-up time; the shuttle may occasionally turn up a little early, or up to 20-30 minutes late depending on the other pick-ups, but it will definitely come and get you. The driver wears an H2O Watersport or Teguise Transfer T-shirt and always calls ahead to confirm they’re picking up the right people.
