Don’t worry: on Lanzarote, the weather is usually on your side. The island is very arid and showers are rare and short. Here’s how we decide whether to go ahead, reschedule or cancel safely, and how to read the forecast without stressing.
Lanzarote's weather in 2 numbers
When it comes to rain, Arrecife (Lanzarote) gets around 120 to 125 mm a year, with about 23 days of some rain in total over the year, mostly between November and February. December is the wettest month, but we’re talking modest totals over a whole year.
To put that into perspective: London gets over 600 mm a year. In other words, Lanzarote gets about five times less rain than London, which explains the dry landscapes – and why a light shower generally doesn’t put the tour in doubt.
Why weather apps often worry you for nothing
Microclimates and terrain mean rain can be very localised: a cloud can soak one neighbourhood and miss the next. Apps sometimes show a rain icon when it’s only a few drops or a brief shower. The takeaway: look at the trend, not the emoji, and we’ll check on the day based on actual conditions.
Our simple rule: we go ahead… unless the weather is genuinely bad
We don’t postpone a tour for a few drops or some clouds. The tracks stay drivable and, if it drizzles, we lend you rain gear. Honest feedback: you lose a bit of the view, but lots of customers have a blast in the mud and come away with great memories.
We postpone or cancel when safety can’t be guaranteed:
- Heavy, persistent rain that makes the tracks impassable.
- A weather warning or unfavourable forecast.
Gear and comfort if a few showers fall
We provide rain gear if needed. Pack a light layer in your bag; with no windscreen, your upper body is exposed to the wind. Tip: put our windbreaker on over yours so you don’t get it dirty – you often end up a bit dusty.
Cancellation and rescheduling policy
Having serious doubts and would rather not risk it?
- Up to 48h before the tour: free cancellation of our services or a change of date, subject to availability.
- If the provider cancels due to bad weather (for safety): we reschedule or cancel officially with them.
- For the contractual side and the role of the local operator, see our Terms of service (booking, cancellation and liability sections).
The easiest thing if you’re unsure: message me on WhatsApp and we’ll talk it through based on what’s happening on the tracks.
