Timanfaya Tour with an English-Speaking Guide, WITHOUT Transport: Info and Prices 2026

Timanfaya Tour with an English-Speaking Guide, WITHOUT Transport: Info and Prices 2026

Want to visit Timanfaya with an English-speaking guide, without an organised pick-up from your hotel, and with a real guide rather than just an audio guide? All you need is a way to get to Playa Blanca. This option starts directly from Playa Blanca (Calle Las Breñas): it’s up to you to get there under your own steam (car, taxi or local bus), and there’s free parking on site. From the meeting point, you head to Timanfaya National Park, one of the most spectacular sights in Lanzarote, created by the volcanic eruptions of 1730-1736, aboard a minibus with priority access to the Route of the Volcanoes. You then enjoy an official guided tour of around 1h30 in the park, in English, before hopping back on the minibus to Playa Blanca. Unlike other options, there’s no hotel pick-up and no stop at the Green Lagoon or La Geria: it’s an express trip focused entirely on Timanfaya. Below you’ll find all the practical info, prices and tips to help you plan your visit. If you’d like to discover this amazing park but don’t have a car, check out this trip instead.

Who is this Timanfaya tour without transport, with an English-speaking guide, for?

✅ This trip is for you if...

–You have a car (or can easily hire one): no need to wait for a hotel pick-up, you make your own way to the meeting point in Playa Blanca.

–You’re staying in the south of the island: Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Yaiza are all close to the meeting point.

–You want an English-speaking guide: the commentary on the park and the volcanoes is given in English by an official guide once you’re there.

–You’re after a short, efficient visit: allow around 2 to 2.5 hours in total, with no detours or extra stops.

⚠️ The rare exceptions to bear in mind

–You’re dreaming of a camel ride: it isn’t included in this trip.
–You suffer from travel sickness: the road to Timanfaya has quite a few bends.
–People with reduced mobility: the buses used in the park aren’t wheelchair accessible.
–You don’t have a car or an easy way to get to Playa Blanca: in that case, the version with transport and pick-up from your hotel will be more convenient for you.

- What nobody else will tell you:

My aim is to be 100% transparent with you: not to push an activity on you at any cost, but to make sure you have a great time and don’t come away disappointed. It takes two minutes to read and saves you any nasty surprises. Here’s everything you need to know before you book:

  • 🌋 It’s an express visit, focused solely on Timanfaya: unlike other options, there’s no stop at the Green Lagoon, no stop in La Geria and no wine tasting. You’re here for Timanfaya, and nothing but Timanfaya.
  • 🚗 No transport from your hotel: it’s up to you to make your own way (car, taxi, local bus) to the meeting point in Playa Blanca. There’s free parking on site, which works well if you’re staying in the south of the island or have a hire car.
  • ⏱️ A shorter, more compact visit: allow around 2 to 2.5 hours in total, including a 1h30 guided tour of the park. That’s much shorter than the option with hotel transport (around 5h30 including travel), since there’s no hotel pick-up and no extra stops.
  • 🇬🇧 A real English-speaking guide, not just an audio guide: once you’re at the meeting point, an official guide accompanies you in English for the whole tour of the park. That’s a real difference compared with visiting on your own: if you drive to the Timanfaya entrance yourself without booking a tour, you’ll only get the standard park bus with an audio commentary to download on the spot, and no guarantee of a real guide who speaks English.
  • 🚌 The minibus skips the queues: as several visitors confirm in their reviews, the queues of cars at the park entrance can be very long at peak times. By booking this trip, you get priority access to the Route of the Volcanoes.
  • 🧥 Bring a windproof jacket: several visitors mention that it’s cool and windy on the Islote de Hilario plateau and at the visitor centre, even in the middle of summer.
  • 🏨 Would you rather be picked up from your hotel, with transport included? If you don’t have a car, or you’d rather not have to get yourself to Playa Blanca, go for this other Timanfaya tour with an English-speaking guide and transport from your hotel instead, which will probably suit you better.

Did you know?

Timanfaya National Park was created by the volcanic eruptions of 1730 to 1736, which covered almost a quarter of the island in lava and ash. On the Islote de Hilario plateau, the heat is so close to the surface that you only need to pour water into a simple pipe in the ground to see it shoot out as a geyser of steam a few seconds later: just 6 metres down, the temperature can top 400°C. A little further on, the El Diablo restaurant even cooks its grilled food directly over a volcanic vent, with no electricity or gas.
