Timanfaya Tour with Transport: Info & Prices 2026

Want to visit Timanfaya without a car and without the hassle of organising it all?

You’re off to Timanfaya National Park, one of Lanzarote’s most spectacular sights, born from the volcanic eruptions of 1730–1736. On the agenda: geothermal demonstrations on the Islote de Hilario, the Route of the Volcanoes with commentary from your guide, a stop at the Green Lagoon in El Golfo, then a wine tasting in the one-of-a-kind vineyards of La Geria. Return transport from your hotel and a guide are included. Below you’ll find all the practical info, prices and tips to plan your visit.

- Who is this Timanfaya tour for?

This tour is for you if...

–You don’t have a hire car: return transport from your hotel is included, so there’s no need to drive the volcanic roads.
–You want a guided visit: a professional guide explains the park, the volcanoes and La Geria’s wine as you go.
–You like wine: a tasting is available (at extra cost) in the unique vineyards of La Geria, where vines grow straight out of the volcanic ash.

A few exceptions to keep in mind

–You’ve got your heart set on a camel ride: it isn’t included in this tour.
–You get travel sick: the road to Timanfaya and La Geria has quite a few bends.
–Reduced mobility: the coaches used aren’t wheelchair-accessible.
–You have a car and mainly want a guided tour of Timanfaya: if you can get to Yaiza on your own, another tour will probably suit you better.

- What nobody else will tell you:

My aim is to be 100% upfront with you – not to push an activity at all costs, but to make sure you have a great time and don’t come away disappointed. It takes two minutes to read and could save you a letdown: here’s everything you need to know before booking:

  • It’s first and foremost a Timanfaya visit: think of this tour mainly as a visit to Timanfaya National Park. The stops at the Green Lagoon and La Geria are nice, but they’re secondary.
  • The Green Lagoon and La Geria stops are fairly short: expect around 15 to 20 minutes at each, no more.
  • No camel ride: unlike some other activities on the island, this tour doesn’t include a camel ride.
  • The advertised 5h30 includes pick-up and drop-off: the tour is billed as lasting about 5h30, but that includes hotel pick-up and the ride back. In reality, the time at each site breaks down roughly like this: about 1h15 in Timanfaya, then 15 to 20 minutes at the Green Lagoon and 15 to 20 minutes at La Geria.
  • Ideal if you don’t have a car: it’s a particularly good option if you don’t have a car and want an easy way to discover Timanfaya, with transport from your hotel and a guide throughout.
  • The real bonus: a proper guided visit: the main advantage of this tour is having a friendly guide who explains each place you visit, rather than just driving past it.
  • If you have a car: if you have a car, mainly want a guided tour of Timanfaya and can get to Yaiza yourself, go for this other guided Timanfaya tour instead – it’ll probably be a better fit.

Did you know?

Timanfaya National Park was born from the volcanic eruptions of 1730 to 1736, which buried nearly a quarter of the island under lava and ash. On the Islote de Hilario, the heat is so close to the surface that if you pour water into a simple pipe stuck in the ground, it shoots back out as a steam geyser a few seconds later: just 6 metres down, the temperature can exceed 400°C. A little further on, El Diablo restaurant even grills its food directly over a volcanic vent – no electricity, no gas.

What's included:

Hotel pick-up is included, from 25 pick-up points around the island. The air-conditioned coach ride to the park takes about 1h15, with commentary from a professional guide in several languages.

Once there, skip-the-line entry to Timanfaya National Park, the Route of the Volcanoes by coach with commentary, geothermal demonstrations on the Islote de Hilario, and stops at the Green Lagoon and La Geria are all included, along with travel insurance. The only thing not allowed is pets.
