Two formats, two different vibes. Here’s how to choose between the shared 4-hour trip (small group, everything taken care of) and a private charter (your own schedule, pace and plan).
Shared trip (4h): easy and sociable
Typical itinerary
4 hours in total: about 1 hour’s sailing to Papagayo, 2 hours at anchor (kayak, paddleboard, snorkelling, drinks & snacks), then back to the marina.
Group size & price
Up to 12 people on board → a small group with a friendly crew.
Price: €75 / person for 4 hours.
Who it's ideal for
- Couples, small families and solo travellers who enjoy a sociable atmosphere.
- A controlled budget without cutting corners.
- A ready-made plan: sailing + swimming + snacks and drinks.
Private catamaran: total freedom, your own pace
Duration & price
€135 / hour, 3-hour minimum (choose 3, 4, 5, 6 hours or more).
Up to 12 people (same capacity as the shared trip).
What you can tailor
- Timing: morning or afternoon, and how long you want.
- Pace: “lots of sailing” or plenty of swimming
- Anchor spots: Papagayo as standard; Isla de Lobos possible from 4 hours, weather permitting and depending on sea conditions.
Food & equipment
To keep costs down and avoid waste, you bring your own drinks & snacks (there’s a cool box/chilled storage on board).
Paddleboard and snorkelling gear are available.
Shared vs private: how to decide quickly
The key points in two lines
- Shared: 4h / €75 pp / sociable atmosphere / fixed, super-simple plan.
- Private: fully tailored (length, pace, spots) / bring your own drinks & snacks / perfect for families & groups.
Budget guide (e.g. 4-hour private charter)
- 4 people → €540, i.e. €135 pp
- 6 people → €540, i.e. €90 pp
- 8 people → €540, i.e. €67.50 pp
- 10 people → €540, i.e. €54 pp
- 12 people → €540, i.e. €45 pp With 8 or more people, a 4-hour private charter often works out better value than the shared trip – and you get the freedom of doing things your way.
Weather, comfort & quality of experience
We don't go out "no matter what"
Quality & safety first: if the sea is too rough or the wind too strong, we reschedule or cancel – at no cost to you.
Comfort on board
While sailing, the breeze can feel cool; at anchor you’re sheltered, and swimming, paddleboarding and snorkelling become the heart of the experience.
Quick checklist to help you choose
-
- Group size: from 8 people, private often works out cheaper (4h).
- Occasion: birthday, hen or stag party, marriage proposal → private charter.
- Flexibility & tailoring: timing, pace, Isla de Lobos → private charter.
- Fixed budget & sociable vibe: shared 4h trip at €75 pp.
- Weather: we reschedule/cancel if needed – comfort comes first.
