Yes. Catamaran trips are family-friendly and accessible in many situations. Here we go through the equipment available for children, access conditions for people with reduced mobility, and how to prepare so boarding goes smoothly.
Children: safety, comfort and tips
Child-sized safety equipment
Children’s life jackets are available. The crew adjusts the size and buoyancy to your child’s weight. There’s a simple safety briefing before departure.
Pushchair or baby carrier?
Space on board is limited and the deck moves. A pushchair quickly gets in the way and isn’t very practical. We recommend a baby carrier so you can move around easily and keep your hands free.
Comfort on board
- Shaded areas, comfortable seating and drinking water.
- Bring a hat, a UV T-shirt, sunglasses with a strap and a towel.
- Keep a light snack and water handy. If you’re prone to seasickness: look at the horizon, stay in the middle of the boat and breathe calmly.
Reduced mobility: what you need to know
Boarding from the pontoon
There’s no boarding ramp. You need to be able to manage a few steps between the pontoon and the boat, with help from the crew and your companion if needed. The deck may have 1 or 2 steps and some raised thresholds.
On board
- The seating is stable, with things to hold on to. Moving around slowly and with assistance is recommended.
- A folding wheelchair can sometimes be stowed on board, but it can’t be used to get around while sailing.
- The toilet is a marine type, in a small space. Let us know about any specific needs in advance.
Ideal conditions and support
We go for calm sea and wind windows so boarding is more relaxed. Message us beforehand to describe your level of mobility, and we’ll choose the most comfortable day and time together.
Safety and weather policy
Comfort and safety come first
If the sea is too rough or the wind would make the trip uncomfortable, we reschedule or cancel. You don’t pay anything if the trip doesn’t go ahead. On the other hand, in good conditions the experience is gentle and enjoyable for everyone.
Good practice reminders
- Briefing before departure, properly fitted life jackets, clear instructions.
- Move around carefully, always keeping three points of contact.
- The skipper can adapt the route to look for more sheltered spots.
How to prepare for your trip
Before booking
- Tell us the children’s ages so we can have the right life jackets ready.
- For reduced mobility: let us know your level of independence when boarding, whether you have a folding wheelchair, any ongoing treatment, and the name of a companion.
- If possible, book early in your stay so you have 1 or 2 days’ leeway if the trip is postponed due to weather.
On the day
- Shoes with non-slip soles.
- Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen.
- Personal medication in a waterproof bag if needed.
Quick checklist
- Children: life jackets provided; go for a baby carrier rather than a pushchair.
- Reduced mobility: no ramp, you’ll need to manage a few steps to board. Bring a companion to help.
- Comfort: shaded areas, water, towel, UV T-shirt, sunglasses, hat.
- Safety: briefing, life jackets, move slowly and with assistance.
- Weather: rescheduled or cancelled if the sea is too rough. No charge if the trip doesn’t go ahead.
