\r\n Before you book: buggy tours have changed\r\n <\/p>\r\n

\r\n Buggy tours are what first put Crazy Canary on the map when I started out: a small, friendly, family-run set-up. With that success, plus the Cabildo\u2019s new restrictions on routes, things are now closer to mass tourism than to the intimate experience it started out as.\r\n <\/p>\r\n

\r\n I still offer it because, in most cases, the feedback is still very good. But some visitors do come away disappointed, and I\u2019d rather tell you before you book than after: I\u2019m here to give you honest advice, not to sell you an activity at any cost.\r\n <\/p>\r\n

My aim is to be 100% transparent with you: not to push an activity on you at any cost, but to make sure you have a great time and don\u2019t come away disappointed. It takes two minutes to read and saves you any nasty surprises. Here\u2019s everything you need to know before you book:<\/b><\/p>\n

  • \ud83d\udc22 It\u2019s a relaxed ride, not a rally:<\/b> The pace is deliberately easy-going: the idea isn\u2019t to chase speed but to enjoy the scenery. It\u2019s suitable for everyone (families, young children, older people), and we keep it gentle out of respect for local residents, for safety and for the protected natural parks.<\/li>\n
  • \u23f1\ufe0f An approximate duration, not a stopwatch:<\/b> Trips last around 2 or 3 hours, depending on the option you choose. Depending on the group\u2019s pace, traffic or conditions on the day, this can vary by 10 to 15 minutes, which is perfectly normal. The route itself always stays the same: what matters is the experience, not the clock!<\/li>\n
  • \u26fd A stop at the petrol station? That\u2019s all part of the plan!<\/b> On some trips the convoy stops so a few of the buggies can fill up: it\u2019s not an oversight, it\u2019s just how things work, and the route stays exactly the same.<\/li>\n
  • \ud83d\udde3\ufe0f It\u2019s not a guided tour (and this is Spain!):<\/b> The guide\u2019s job is to lead the way and keep everyone safe, not to stop and give commentary, and the operator can\u2019t guarantee a guide who speaks your language on every trip. As with any activity run by local staff, how engaged the guide is can vary from one to the next: the vast majority do the job with a smile, but you might catch one on an off day.<\/li>\n
  • \ud83c\udf0b We don\u2019t go to Timanfaya:<\/b> Contrary to a common misconception, no motor vehicles are allowed into Timanfaya National Park. Our route focuses on the volcanoes and landscapes in the north of the island (Costa Teguise, the Famara cliffs, Har\u00eda), which are every bit as spectacular.<\/li>\n
  • \ud83d\udea7 A route that has changed, and keeps adapting:<\/b> Following new restrictions imposed by the Cabildo, some sections used in the past are no longer accessible, so the route isn\u2019t quite the same as it was a few years ago. The guides do their best to give you a great ride (roughly 60 to 70% dirt tracks, trails and paths), but they also have to work around these new constraints, sometimes at the last minute.<\/li>\n
  • \ud83d\udc65 Peak season:<\/b> In high season the island runs at full capacity, so naturally it\u2019s busier and things can feel a bit like a production line at the start. That said, my partner keeps things intimate, with 5 buggies max. per guide<\/b>, whereas other operators often take 10 to 15 vehicles per group.<\/li>\n
  • \ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddf8 A no-frills welcome:<\/b> Most travellers mention how friendly and good-humoured our local partners are. Spaniards tend to be direct and spontaneous: that\u2019s all part of the charm of travelling! When it\u2019s busy, the teams keep things brief and the tone can come across as a bit blunt, so don\u2019t take it personally. That said, if the welcome really fell short on a given day, let me know: it helps me pass the feedback on.<\/li>\n
  • \ud83d\ude8c The shuttle service:<\/b> Available as an option if you don\u2019t have a car. You\u2019ll be given an approximate pick-up time; the shuttle may occasionally turn up a little early, or up to 20-30 minutes late depending on the other pick-ups, but it will definitely come and get you. The driver wears an H2O Watersport or Teguise Transfer T-shirt<\/b> and always calls ahead to confirm they\u2019re picking up the right people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
